Wow, and Gorsuch, a trump appointee penned the decision!!

The right-wingers, and the conservatives that give them support, went wild with glee when McConnell was able to illegitimately postpone a hearing to allow a man they assumed would be in the conservatives back pocket to be stuck in front of more progressively leaning judges. trump, of course, followed suit and did what the bigots in the right-wing wanted and pushed Gorsuch and got Gorsuch installed.

However, Gorsuch turns out, unlike Kavanaugh in all likelihood, to actually support precedence and the law of the land rather than extreme right-wing bigotry. Not since the marriage equality ruling has so much good been done at one fell swoop. Surprise, ye who thought you had managed to start the procedures to make us second class citizens. That day has not quite been delivered to you as quickly as you thought it would.

You see, Gorsuch was the writer of the majority 6–3 decision that came out today, Monday, June 15, 2020. It was decided that the “right” of employers to fire members of the LGBTQ community for being part of any of those groups does NOT exist. The established law, as confirmed by this decision, says clearly to Gorsuch and the other five that voted correctly that employers do NOT in fact have that right. A ruling that rabid discrimination against our community because of who we are is not legal….at least not yet.

Oh, the rabid fighters are going to rage like always, and are likely even now searching for support to pass some sort of anti-human rights bill by Congress rectifying that decision in their favor. However, as of right now, any company that fires someone because of the fact that they belong to the LGBTQ community will not be supported.

And to think, the hope of the extreme right got foiled one more time. As of right now, Gorsuch turns out to be a better human being than we were fearful that he would be. However, liberal judges, especially RBG need our good thoughts and prayers. We can’t afford another trump pick to get in, especially not more than once, and do more damage than he has already managed to do to our country as regards human rights.

Honestly, I never thought I would celebrate anything that Gorsuch signed off on. I figured as many of us did I believe, that he was a right-winger plant and a slam dunk for the “enemy forces” against liberty and equality for ALL. I am very happy to have been proved wrong-at least in this circumstance.

Now, the next issue is the ban on the transgendered in the military. Per the ruling today, discrimination on the basis of demographics is not legal. That should also apply to that of the military. Time will tell, of course, and apparently trump thought he could over-ride previous decisions on his own without input from anybody that has ever signed on publically.

We in the LGBTQ communities know, of course, that trump’s other threat was laughable in a horrible way. No way will they “define them out of existence” any more than attacks from secular law and religiously inspired hated has defined any of us out of existence.
