respond like Bernie and not like trump and America might have a chance to save our nation

When the very worst candidate for office manages to get elected, it can’t help but leave a bad taste in the voters mouths. That is what happened in 2016. The Russians, apparently simply in an attempt to disrupt and make Americans lose confidence in our political process interfered in the election.

When I say the absolute worst candidate I mean just that. Bernie was the guy for change toward being a nation that was good for everybody, especially the working class, as he still is. Hillary, in my opinion, was the argument for main stream, old style democratic politics. While I wanted a change I would have been happy with her because at least with the democratic platform, there would be some hope for the working class and poor.

Even some of the republicans were acceptable. I would not have been that upset with Kasich or Bush. The only one I was any where near as vehemently opposed to was likely Ted Cruz, who I saw as the second most repulsive man in the campaign. Heck, even Jill Stein, despite her being so unlikely to get elected into office as a third party candidate was better than the con-man of New York City.

There is no question that Russia interfered in that election. The only question is whether they actually thought that trump was either their favored guy, or that he would be elected. This latest report indicates that perhaps all they meant to do is sow discord and lack of confidence in the American political process.

It sure worked as far as I am concerned. What it taught me is that the political system is so out of wack that the most repulsive crook in the country can buy his way into the White House. A man who has been a con-artist since day one, and who, in the White House has done everything to make sure the rich get richer at the detriment of the poor and working class. A man who would sooner lie than tell the truth even if the truth was to his advantage.

As the report also says, some of the intelligence community (lower levels) are working to stop the Russians from destroying our elections in 2020. Sadly, the words “lower levels” is a key part of that report. That implies that the higher levels are beholden to trump and are hoping that the interference will once again get trump into the White House for another four hellish years.

The republicans, in reaction to the impeachment, have basically already given him the go ahead to cheat and lie and bully as much as he wants. If he gets another term, our constitutional guarantees will not be worth the paper they are written on. My fear is that he will bulldoze something though to declare the United States to be in “an emergency” and try to stay in longer.

After all the damage he has done in just three years can you imagine what he could do with 8 or 12??? We really would become a 3rd world banana republic.

So, is Russia really trying to help Bernie Sanders? Well, as much as I might like Bernie, and I do, I don’t want to vote for him if he were to be found to be accepting help from the Russians. However. while trump insists that “nobody tried to help me win” or denies that the interference ever happened at all, what does Bernie have to say?

Bernie, told that the Russians were working to help his campaign, once again denounced Russian interference and demanded that we put a stop to it. No, he didn’t deny that it might very well be happening, he just succinctly and honestly repeated that it was wrong and should be stopped. In other words, he did precisely what trump, if he had been an honest man, which he isn’t, should have done and didn’t.

I made a comment the other day a facebook page that one person offense at. The comment was that I don’t blame Putin and the Russians. They are our political opponents and have been since right after World War II. I expect them to act in what they think is their best interest. The one’s I call out are not the Russians, but those Americans who insist on currying favor with their favorite candidate by saying that the Russian interference didn’t happen. People like trump, who very likely benefitted greatly from that interference. The United States owes it to itself to root out and stop interference attempts or those who have lost all confidence in the system are more than justified in feeling that way.
