Peterson recanted at one point, that is the part that I find problematic. I don’t like it when people say and do good stuff and then recant because of pressure.
The Presbyterian church (USA), by the way, has moved on this issue. LGBTQ persons are accorded full membership, both in the congregation and in its leadership, on an equal basis. There are still those that resist that, and some actually left the church over it, but a lot of that decision can be attributed to people like Peterson and Rogers.
Rogers was a Presbyterian minister who evolved on this issue to finally asserting that LGBTQ persons could and should be treated as equals.
Oh, and those ministers within the denominaiton that want to officiate at same sex weddings are allowed to do so, within the church.
