Letters to my reps/senators
This is the emailed note I sent to my Representative and the 2 senators for my state. I am pretty sure the rep will vote correctly because he is a democrat and cares about the people at least enough to be elected again by us. The two senators are likely a waste of time, but I sent it to them anyway.
Rep Troy Carter
Sen Bill Cassidy
Sen John Kennedy ** This is absolutely the worst of the 2 senators.
Hello, my name is James Garman and I’m a constituent from New Orleans.
I’m calling to urge Rep. Troy Carter** to oppose attempts to reduce Medicaid funding and coverage through approaches like imposition of work requirements, conversion of federal Medicaid funding to block grants, or reduction of federal contributions to Medicaid expansion costs. Medicaid provides essential and highly-cost effective health care access to millions of Americans, especially children. Using Medicaid dollars to finance tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans will not only harm low-income Americans but also cause disproportionate harm to lower-income states and rural hospitals who rely on Medicaid coverage to keep their doors open.
As you know, there is a lot of poverty in lower Louisiana despite the fact that the rich hospatality companies rake in huge amounts of money, that doesn’t help the poor worker who often is “contracted” so that the corporations can afford giving them any benefits. Do better for your people, don’t let the current administration to desert them and destroy what little allows them to survive.
**obviously I changed the name in the body to Senator Kennedy and Sen Cassidy for the two Senators.
