Let’s face it, the current Republican party has no ethics, no backbone, and no principles if any question look at Moscow Mitch

This blog is going to be without links. Anybody that wants to check on my statements or logic, please feel free to google “Mitch McConnell”, there is plenty out there, including CNN and Vanity Fair confirming the facts that I am using to make this declaration.

And what is that statement? Exactly what the title says: “the Current Republican Party has no ethics, no backbone, and no principles”. Nobody proves that statement by his very words and deeds better or more completely than Moscow Mitch, the leader of the Republican Party in the Senate.

Now, the next question is what has he done that earned him the irk and anger that he is now receiving? Well, once again, all the facts are laid out just about everywhere you look. He hasn’t exactly been secretive about his treachery. But for the sake of clarity, let’s layout exactly the sequence of events.

It all started when trump and his minions (Guiliana et al) inspired a violent insurrection at our nation’s capital. Now, we are being encouraged to not call them what they were…ie insurrectionists, traitors, whichever word you prefer. Those words describe them accurately, and trump was the instigator. Even Moscow Mitch acknowledged that fact in a 10–20 minute diatribe. (the speech was broadcast on C-Span the day it happened, I saw the whole thing)

Now, based on the fiery speech that McConnell made, the logical thing for him to have done was vote “guilty”. He acknowledged that trump was guilty, but weaseled out with a crazy fake theory that finding trump guilty would set some sort of “bad” precedent. If it was to be a precedent, it would have been a very very good precedent, as it would have meant that future presidents would know that inciting insurrection and treason were going to be punished rather than rewarded or ignored. With the way the Republicans handled this last fiasco, we now have a precedent.

The precedent is that “a president can commit violence against the government, as long as he or she does it in the last month or so and the Senate won’t do a darn thing about it.” (except, I suspect that if the offender happened to be a Democrat, these same people that let trump get away with it would be totally up in arms) Now, THAT is what I call a bad precedent!!!!! So let’s hope that no other President decides to commit some atrocity before that precedent is rebuffed.

Oh, and to top it off, Moscow Mitch has now announced, publically, that if the Republican Party nominates the great con-man in 2024, he will fail totally to exhibit any moral or ethical courage whatsoever and will vote and support the Don. Now, if that is not corruption and proof by word and dead of my thesis, nothing is.

Now, our only hope is that the Biden DOJ will investigate and haul trump into criminal court and find whether or not he is guilty….most certainly is, in my not-so-humble opinion, but courts have to review the case fully. If found guilty, he needs to pay the full penalty for his acts of villainy. Now THAT would be a good precedent. In fact, I am ready and willing today, right now, to sign a petition to help make that happen.
