Fighting the forces of suppression since November 2016 via this webpage

Yes, I am a “leftist” and have been all of my life, albeit not always that aware or active. You see, I always have believed that the workers in this country, as well as the minorities, get mistreated by the wealthy and the corporations. In this, I have always been in the same place.
However, looking back on my ACTIVE engagement in politics, recently, it goes back to 2016. For one thing, this was two years after I retired from working at ATT, one of those corporations guilty of mistreating and disregarding the people that gave them their success, ie the workers.
The thing is, in my 38 years of working for that corporation, it wasn’t always that way. When I first was hired in 1971, we had a strong union and in 1984 went out on strike to make we, the workers, got our fair share of largesse the company was raking in. However, by the time I retired in 2014, the union was weakened and centralization had made the local area far less secure, so they whittled us down to almost nothing.
Then, 2016 came along and the so-called GOP, which will ongoingly be called the Trumpian party, put forth the man known to be a New York con-man who was known for bankruptcies and being the figurehead of a third rate “reality show” about extreme greed and ruthlessness, forth as the “viable candidate”. It didn’t change things, unfortunately, that he started the whole political process lying and spreading a rumor about Obama not being American when he was born in Hawaii (the last time I looked that was part of the United States).
Signs were there, that this man was the candidate of the bigots, both racists, and homophobes, from the very beginning. So, it was, that I realized that I might as well be politically active — in fact, my very life and livelihood might depend on me stepping forward to fight the evil that was about to be unleashed upon our nation.
So, I started this part to fight against the evil of the Trumpian mentality on November 12, 2016. The link at the top is to that very first post. In it, his essential dishonesty was beginning to be noticed by conservative news sources, in this case, Redstate. His failure to pick a narrative and stick to it was evident in the way he referred to Hillary within two days of his election by the Electoral College (he lost by about 7 million on the popular vote).
Since then, of course, I have documented here, some of the worst abuses against the people, Including
1. the act of putting children in cages on the border,
2. threatening the DREAMERS after having reassured them previously that they were not in danger,
3. making a single-handed decision that trans persons are not welcome in the military even though many had been serving for a long time honorably and well. (he claimed generals request this, but no general even confirmed that so I don’t believe for one minute any of them did)
4. a tax-reform bill that mostly benefitted those that didn’t actually need a tax reduction…ie the extremely wealthy and corporations
5. condoning racist attacks on Jews and others by extremist White hate groups.
6. downplaying a pandemic resulting in the second pandemic of conspiracy theories that have resulted in almost a million deaths in this country by repeated outbreaks of Covid-19 in several variants.
7. Trying to silence (with attempts at enforcing it) the media who had the nerve to question his heinous decisions and actions.
But those aren’t even all of the problems. We managed, fortunately, to get the man out of the office with the 2020 election. (Thank God and our activism) But even after that, he managed to inspire an action of sedition/insurrection to try to overturn the government of the United States and replace it with himself as the President (at least in name although who knows how far his ego would have carried him).
Now, to sum up, I have worked to the best of my ability to make sure that not only is trump gone, but that he stays gone, writing articles has started to fall by the wayside. It doesn’t change the fact that I have no real respect for anybody that still buys the Kool-Aid of the crook. I still think he deserves to be behind bars for causing an attempt insurrection against the United States and all that it stands for.
I know that Biden said we should all come together now, but I have NO common ground with Trumpian. The ideology they espouse is, and always has been, repugnant to me. We all have to make our decision about who we will support and I have made that clear over the last 5 or so years, and it isn’t going to change.
In the meantime, as much as I can, I am contributing to Democratic candidates across the country who are working to overthrow the tyranny of the right. Every citizen should easily be able to vote and voter suppression is the technique of the oligarchy that the Trumpian party truly represents, certainly not worthy of a nation like the United States that was established, as incompletely as it may have started out, by our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
So, just know that my writing may be scarce right now, but I am still here and fighting for that version of the nation that I believe is the correct one.
