Bolton: what more do they need to see that witnesses must be called??
Once a day or so, I go and check “the latest on trump”. It is my way of keeping my finger on the pulse of what is going on with the corruption in our highest office. Everyday, I find at least something about some new thing that he has pulled, or that the Senators have ignored. For the last little while, the big news has been that the Democrats are making good arguments, which the republicans are ignoring.
While, now there is new evidence that needs to be noted. John Bolton has, so far, refused to testify when summons by the House. However, in a tease about his new tell-all book, he has let it out that trump told him that any aid to the Ukraine was conditioned on their doing an investigation on democrats, including Biden. This appears to be first hand evidence.
The Senators, even the republican ones, need to understand that if they don’t subpoena Bolton and follow up his statements, they will be missing an opportunity. But more than that, they will be, one more time, refusing to do the job that We the People elected them to do. Part of their job is to investigate any alledged wrong doing on the part of the chief executive. A man who, even after the blight on our nation that was Nixon, seems to think he is above the law.
I hear the murmurs of some on the right saying that Bolton is trying to make money on his book. That is true, but then every other advisor trump has had was in it for something for themselves. We can see that by simply looking at at the list of those that have been removed after misdeeds were discovered, or in some cases managed to get themselves indicted in federal court.
I am a private citizen, and I don’t have to hold to “innocent till proven guilty”. I can go on the evidence and decide what I think about guilty versus innocence now. My take is that trump, after getting help from Russia to get elected in 2016, was unsure of his chances in 2020 and tried to insure his own victory again by blackmailing a foreign government to intervene.
Bolton needs to be heard and cross-examined by the Senate. If necessary, the courts need to step in and force him to testify or be charged with contempt. This may just be our chance of finding out the truth in front of those that can do something about the horror that has infected our society. It also is my thought that John Bolton may very well be the same as Anonymous…the one that wrong both the NYT’s article telling us that there were adults in the room and the book that later came out.
Bolton has now come out as himself, assuming my assertion above is correct, and is now saying it loud and clear. It will be a total miscarriage of Justice for the American people and the world at large if the Senate doesn’t hear him.
But then, to this point, the 53 Senators on the Republican side of the aisle have seemed to ignore everything except the “our man good, democrats bad” tripe originating in the White House. Shame on you, Senate, if you continue to stay the course after this new information. Your names will go down in infamy. I will certainly remember your names that way.
Bolton revelations upend Senate impeachment trial
President Donald Trump's former national security adviser has upended the Senate impeachment trial, and new revelations…
PS I followed this article up with an email to BOTH of my republican Senators saying:
Ok, the plot thickens and you remain unconvinced that additional witnesses need to be called for the Senate to do their job on investigating charges against Trump. The latest news is that Bolton is releasing a tell-all book which will be published in March detailing his interaction with Trump. In it, as dropped on television by him, Trump told him point-blank that any aid to the Ukraine was to be determined by their investigating of Biden.
That is a statement of pure and simple blackmailing of a foreign leader in regards to monies that Congress had already voted to send to the Ukrainian people in their fight against the dictatorship that is Russia. Bolton needs to testify before the Senate or you in the Senate will be complicit in refusing to hear the evidence in order to weight the case.
My strong belief is that the man (meaning trump) is guilty as sin, but the Republicans will then have the opportunity to cross-examine and prove him (**note here I mean Bolton) to be liar if that is how it turns out. Refusing to subpoena here is a clear dereliction of duty.
