a few republicans have a moral compass and backbone enough to speak up
Now, let’s be clear, I am a democrat; have always been and always will be a Democrat as long as the democratic party is the liberal party. Now, is that party-perfect? No, but it is the best out there for people like me, ie ordinary working people who managed to achieve roughly middle-class status because of unions and collective bargaining. In addition, the Democratic party is the party of minorities, and I am a member of a minority — the LGBTQ community. The Republican party stands for the status quo and the rich. If anybody doubts that, just at the so-called tax reform of 2017 as one of the most recent examples. That tool of the republicans gave vast amounts of tax cuts to the well-to-do and then grouses about things like Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid. In other words, massive benefits for “them who have” and pittance and takeaways from “them that don’t.”
Now having established that in the minds of the reader, let’s example why I would say that there are a few Republicans, even in leadership that abhors the damage that trump has done, I would say not only to the citizens and the country but also to their party. They have stood up and called him out.
The first group is the Lincoln Project. Each of these people is conservative and Republican and active in the Party. George Conway is one of the strongest despite the fact that his own wife helps convince the nation that up is down and east is west in her attempts to front for the liar-in-chief. trump says he is a bad husband, which makes me even prouder of George. I figure if trump hates you, you must be doing something right.
As most of us already know by now, there are other people involved, Steve Schmidt, John Weaver, Rick Wilson, Jennifer Horn, Ron Steslow, Reed Galen, and Mike Madrid. Thanks to each of these people for speaking up against the horrors of the trump administration and putting the nation above petty politics.
Then, there is another group called Republican For the Rule of Law founded by Bill Kristol, Mona Charen, Linda Chavez, Sarah Longwell, and Andy Zwick. This group’s latest video has stood up to the trump agenda and taken him head-on with his attack on the right of the nation to vote safety by mail.
Finally, it appears that John Kasich, the best Republican candidate for 2016, admittedly with slimes like trump and Ted Cruz, that isn’t saying a huge amount, has decided that it is more important to do the right thing than to support his current party position. In addition, even Carly Flourine, remember her from trump’s reference to her as ugly as though that had anything to do with doing the job whether true or not, has come out for Biden, if Wikipedia can be trusted, against trump and endorsed Biden.
And let’s just mention that the same is true of Colin Powell, a man that has a lot of respect throughout the nation.
While not being a republican, I welcome anybody that sees the light to the cause. I am sick and tired of the type of attitude that is displayed in the link below. The Senate had another hearing and realized that the evidence supported the fact that Russia worked to interfere with the election in 2016 and that trump’s team actively and enthusiastically welcomed said intervention, but somehow remained innocent of collusion. Such sophistry is a standard opening procedure for the current so-called republican, but really just Trumpian political party.
